Council - Hard Rubbish
Council Residents, including those renting homes, can book a free hard waste collection to get rid of large, bulky items that cannot go in household bins.
Each year between 1 October and 30 September, you have the choice of booking:
- Two small collections. A limit of 3 cubic metres of waste applies per collection; OR
- One large collection. A limit of 6 cubic metres of waste applies.
Bookings can be made for a time that suits you.
Please book your hard waste collection before placing items out for collection. Accepted items will be collected from your front yard. Read the information below to find out what items can be collected and how to place your items for safe collection.
If you live in a unit, townhouse or apartment, speak with your Facilities Manager or Body Corporate before making a booking, to confirm the best place to put your hard waste out for collection.
Your collection will take place between Monday to Friday during the week of your booking.
Check what items we can collect before placing items out for collection.
Follow these guidelines to place your hard waste items out for safe collection:
- Place items out by 6am on the Monday morning of the week your collection is booked.
- Only place items inside your property boundary, no more than 2 metres from the boundary or fence.
- Keep items away from the house.
- Items need to be easily accessible:
- If you have a fence along your property (and no gate across your driveway), we recommend keeping the driveway clear of parked cars so it can be used to safely collect your items.
- If you have closed gates (and the driveway gate cannot be left open), the pedestrian gate opening needs to be wide enough for items to be safely carried through. If you are unsure, please call to discuss your collection: 9205 2200
- Items need to be placed neatly. Do not stack items on top of each other.
If we are unable to safely access and remove your hard waste items, your collection may not take place. If this happens, we will leave a note and you will need to move the items and re-book your collection.
The following items are accepted through your hard waste collection:
- Mattresses and bed bases

- Whitegoods such as fridges (remove doors), dishwashers, washing machines
