Choosing the right adhesive or sealant

Use when: a customer asks which Bostik product suits their job.

Questions to ask

  1. What are you bonding or sealing (timber, tile, glass, metal, plastic, masonry)?
  2. Is it indoors, outdoors or in a wet area?
  3. Does the joint need to flex or move?
  4. How soon does it need to take load?

Quick guide

  • Bathroom and kitchen joints: Seal 'N' Flex Wet Area sealant. Mould resistant. Touch dry in 30 minutes, full cure in 24 hours.
  • General building and construction: Fix All. Bonds most surfaces, including damp ones. Full strength in 24-48 hours.
  • Floor and wall tiles: Bostik Tile Adhesive (cement based). Allow 24 hours before grouting. Not for tiles over 600 mm without a flexible additive.
  • Posters and light items: Blu Tack. Reusable, not for outdoor or heavy loads.

Cure times

  • Cure times assume 23 degrees and 50% humidity. Cold or humid weather can double them.

Escalate to Technical Services when

  • The job is structural or load bearing.
  • The customer needs a written product recommendation or a warranty statement for a project.
