Lactalis Consumer Enquiries

Target Audience: General Public, Customers, Media Inquiries Purpose: To provide clear, accessible, and brand-positive answers to common consumer questions about Lactalis Australia and its products.

    Product Quality and Safety

Why does my milk taste or smell different sometimes?

Dairy is a natural product, and its flavour can be subtly influenced by the time of year and what the cows are eating. However, we take quality very seriously. If your milk or dairy product tastes sour, cheesy, or has any off-flavour before the Use-By date, please do not consume it. Contact our Customer Care team immediately with the product name, use-by date, and the batch code (printed on the bottle/carton) so we can investigate the issue.

    Is your milk permeate-free?

Yes. All white milk sold under our key Australian brands, including Pauls, is permeate-free. We are committed to processing only high-quality milk that meets the expectations of Australian families.

Are your products safe for people with specific allergies or dietary needs?

We are rigorous about allergen control. All major allergens are clearly listed in bold on the ingredients panel of our packaging. Please always check the ingredients list before consuming. If you have any specific concerns about trace allergens, please contact our Customer Care team with the specific product name.

    Brand, Ownership, and Sourcing

Is Lactalis Australia an Australian company?

Lactalis Australia is the local subsidiary of the Lactalis Group, a global family-owned dairy company based in France. However, we are a local business in operation:

    • Local Milk: We source 100% of our milk from Australian dairy farms.

    • Local Manufacturing: All our products are processed in our Australian factories (Queensland, Victoria, NSW, WA, SA, and Tasmania).

    • Local Jobs: We employ thousands of Australians across our farms, factories, and offices.

Where does the milk in Pauls or Oak products come from?

Our milk is sourced directly from hundreds of dedicated Australian dairy farming families across the country. We collect milk from dairy regions in Queensland, Victoria, New South Wales, Western Australia, South Australia, and Tasmania.

    Availability and Distribution

Why can't I find a specific product or flavour at my local store?

While we try to ensure all our products are available nationwide, the decision on which products to stock is ultimately made by the individual supermarket chain or store manager. If you can’t find a product, we recommend asking the store manager to place an order, or checking with a different local retailer.

Can I buy your products directly from the factory?

Our facilities are industrial manufacturing sites and are generally not open to the public for direct retail sales. Please purchase our products from your usual supermarket, corner store, or food service supplier.
