Media release and comms approvals
Applies to: DIT staff asking how to get a media release, web content or social post approved.
Approval steps
- The staff member drafts the content using the approved template and sends it to the Public Affairs inbox with the subject line starting with the program name.
- Public Affairs checks the content for brand, tone and accuracy, and returns comments within 2 business days.
- The executive director for the program approves the content.
- Media releases that mention a Minister are also sent to the Minister's office for approval. Allow 3 business days for this step.
- Public Affairs schedules and issues the release, or confirms when the staff member can publish it.
Key facts
- Nothing is released to media without Public Affairs sign-off.
- Urgent releases can be fast-tracked to same day by the Engagement Manager.
- Brand and publication guidelines are in the Public Affairs toolkit on the intranet.
